Bad communication effects teamwork for every hotel manager?

Communication in a Hotel is as important as blood is for your body. Just like your physical body, when blood stops moving through your body - when Communication stops moving through your Hotel - bad things will happen....

Communication can allow trust, productivity and influence to build around your Hotel. Taking time to communicate clearly is never a waste of time. Everybody in a Hotel relies on Communication.

Workers within every Hotel Department or work team can rely on effective communication to keep everyone carrying out the activities they should be carrying out. In a Hotel,a lack of communication can lead to mistakes, delays and wasted time.

Hotel workers rely on Hotel Supervisors to communicate. If Hotel Supervisors and Managers don't communicate directions, task assignments and information, workers can make mistakes or fail to perform their duties.

Employees from different Hotel Departments need to communicate well to collaborate on projects and shift activities. Creative employees in a Hotel might get frustrated with Hotel Managers who are always communicating - but never communicating would be a lot worse.

Conflict can also arise in a Hotel when employees communicate poorly with their guests. Poor communication leads to frustrated customers complaining.

When communication isn’t understood in a Hotel, anxiety builds. All it takes is for Housekeeping not to be told about an early arrival for a bedroom or for the Kitchen not to be told about one table in the restaurant eating quickly and it causes anxiety! Anxiety due to a simple misunderstanding.

When a communication breakdown occurs, perhaps between that Front Desk and Housekeeping or that Restaurant and the Kitchen - the relationships of these people trying to communicate also breaks down. A simple misunderstanding can be taken as an attack or something done on purpose.

If members of these Hotel teams do not communicate well with each other, it may become unclear what roles and responsibilities each team member should be carrying out, leading to confusion and conflict between team members.

Any time you have to re-explain or re-communicate anything because you didn’t properly communicate during the first opportunity is a waste of time. When you use time to communicate, make it worth your time and the person’s time you are sharing with.

Let me repeat some things I have already said to you. Communication is the life blood of your Hotel. Communication is the foundation of the relationships that allows trust, productivity and influence to build around your Hotel. Taking time to communicate clearly is never a waste of time.
