Accor has opened its 1100th hotel in Asia Pacific

When Accor announced the opening of the Pullman Tokyo Tamachi hotel late last year, it also signaled the celebration of reaching another significant milestone – its 1000th hotel.

Since then, and six months later, it added another 100 hotels with the Sofitel Beijing Central been its latest opening in June this year. The Sofitel Beijing Central property is tagged by Accor to become one of the premier luxury hotels in the city.

The hotel is located right in the city centre, not far from the capital’s Chaoyang central business district, and is close to other prominent landmarks such as Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City, the National Museum of China and the National Grand Theatre. The Jianguomen subway station is also just a few minutes’ walk from the hotel.

Designed with a aesthetically pleasing blend of modern French and traditional influences the hotel features 345 guestrooms and suites, three dining outlets, including an all-day dining eatery with an outdoor garden offering international cuisine, a Chinese restaurant, and a lobby bar serving afternoon tea and evening cocktails. The hotel also has nine meeting rooms totaling over 1500 sqm of event space, able to accommodate upto 400 guests in total. Recreational facilities include a spa, fitness centre and an indoor pool.

The launch of the Sofitel Beijing Central brings the group’s Asia Pacific network to over 210,000 rooms – reflecting how rapidly the group is expanding in Asia, a region which is leading the group’s global charge with a 50 percent growth. The Sofitel Beijing Central property joins the group’s 319 other luxury and premium hotels in the region.

With 38 brands within its portfolio, Accor which is the largest and most geographically diverse hotel group in Asia Pacific is heavily pursuing further expansion in the luxury and lifestyle fields.

Gary Rosen, Chairman and Chief Operating Officer, Accor Greater China commented, “2019 marks the 55th anniversary of Sino-French relations and coincides with the 55th anniversary of the Sofitel brand. We are excited to launch a new Sofitel in China’s capital against the backdrop of these two significant occasions. France is one of the most popular outbound destinations for Chinese travellers and as an ambassador of French culture. Sofitel enjoys tremendous opportunities as a preferred brand for luxury travellers.”

Accor has the largest pipeline in Asia Pacific and opened 128 hotels in the region last year. The group opens, on average, a new hotel every 36 hours globally and in Asia Pacific opens a new hotel every three days.
