Singapore Airlines is turning an A380 plane into a restaurant

With only 32 of its 220 planes operating, Singapore Airlines will convert one of its Airbus A380’s into a restaurant. Dubbed “Restaurant A380@ Changi”, the unique pop-up experience will be open on 24th & 25th October, with reservations starting on12th October and meal choices and prices based on cabin class. KrisFlyer miles can also be redeemed for the experience.

Prices (in S$) are tagged as follows:-

Economy: 50/- or 6,250 KrisFlyer miles

Premium Economy: 90/-  or 11,250  KrisFlyer miles

Business Class: 300/- or 37,500 KrisFlyer miles

Suites: 600/- or 75,000 KrisFlyer miles.

Suites and Business Class diners will be treated to 4-course meals including international classics such as Lobster Thermidor and Beef filet. Premium Economy and Economy Class diners will receive a full 3-course meal. Main course options include Peranakan, Japanese and Western choices. Each meal comes with 2 free alcoholic drinks and free flow of other beverages.

An A380 plane usually seats upto 470 passengers. However, the dining capacity will be far less with the airline effecting measures that include cleaning and sanitising the plane, capping group sizes at five, implementing safe distancing and doing a temperature check. Both crew and diners will be required to wear a face mask at all times when on board, except when eating or drinking.

In addition to the onboard dining experience, the airline will also open its training centre to the public. Throughout late-November, Singapore Airlines will also conduct tours of their training centre. Highlights will include a tour of an A380 or B777 training simulator and a sneak-peak at new cabin products. The tour of the SIA Training Centre is scheduled to take place on 21st, 22nd, 28th and 29th November with bookings open from 1st November. Visitors will get the opportunity to talk to pilots and cabin crew about their training, enjoy a wine appreciation session, take part in craft activities and buy in-flight meals.

Wanna appear like the iconic ‘Singapore Girl’? Adults can attend the “Singapore Girl Grooming workshop” to achieve the look of Singapore Airlines’ world famous female flight attendants. Parents can opt for an add-on option to send their child for a junior cabin crew experience where the children get to dress up in a SIA sarong kebaya uniform, learn customer service sklls and act as cabin crew members in a mock-up of a A380 business class cabin.

For those who are nervous about mingling with people despite the safety measures, SIA will go the extra mile or miles, by  offering to provide a similar dining experience at home – delivered by SQ cabin crew, and, if so desired, plated by airline chefs.

If you have a deep wallet, one can go further by purchasing an all-inclusive package that includes a 22-piece tableware set.
