The first 100% plant-based hotel & bar has opened in Oz...

Delicious, innovative and most importantly 100% plant-based, Alibi is the place for your next night out.

Kimchi dumplings, Heirloom tomato and zucchini lasagna. Hibiscus strawberry cheesecake.

Are you hungry yet?

All this and more are on the menu at Alibi at Ovolo Woolloomooloo, Australia’s first hotel bar and kitchen offering a 100% plant-based menu.

Renowned US plant-based chef Matthew Kenney has designed an innovative, colourful and delicious menu perfect for those of us who embrace (or even just aspire to) a healthier lifestyle. The global plant-based dining pioneer is thrilled to be working in Australia for the first time and is confident that his philosophy will be well received by Sydney and its visitors.

“The lifestyle is already here, the products are here. The quality of ingredients is incredible. Australia is the founder of avocado on toast – we have our own version of course!”“I think some venues don’t have all the components – they might have great food but not atmosphere, for example. But I think Alibi has everything,” he concluded.

The Alibi menu has been devised to bring as much of Kenney’s food philosophy and style to the plate as possible. Kenney and his team use a combination of classical and innovative cooking techniques to give locally sourced plant-based ingredients a delicious makeover.

Kasper Christensen, of Noma Sydney fame, will oversee the new menu, which also extends to a plant food focus in Ovolo Woolloomooloo’s breakfast, room service and conferencing offerings. And never fear Ovolo’s renowned free happy hour for guests will continue with a new plant-based twist.

If that wasn’t enough to get you through the door then maybe the drinks will do the trick. The cocktail list offers a truly unique experience combining molecular techniques, cooking and even pastry. Intriguing. The wine selection is not to be sneered at, curated by former sommelier of the year Chris Morrison. He’s focusing on smaller producers following Alibi’s own philosophy of sourcing local, sustainable and seasonal products wherever possible.

On a mission to redefine modern hospitality, Ovolo Hotels have been looking out to bring the global wellness trend to their group and saw Australia as the perfect place to do that. “We have listened to the market,” said founder and CEO Girish Jhunjhuwala, “and we know that healthy eating that doesn’t compromise on taste is a priority.”

We’ll see you there. Kimchi dumplings on us?

Alibi Bar + Kitchen will be open Tuesday to Friday for dinner only and for lunch and dinner on Saturdays. There will also be a limited menu with plant-based offerings available for all-all day snacking Tuesday to Saturday.
