Countries begin to allow vaccinated travelers enter their borders

Nine countries have begun welcoming foreign tourists who have been vaccinated as a further step to attract travelers. As the global vaccination rollout takes place, these countries have taken the initiative to entice visitors to travel, thus propelling a faster return to normalcy by the aviation / travel industry.

The countries that have declared the decision to permit vaccinated travelers to enter their borders are Cyprus, Estonia, Georgia, Iceland, Lebanon, Poland, Romania, Seychelles and Thailand.

Entering the abovementioned countries can mean that vaccinated visitors need not submit to take any tests or subject themselves to quarantine. Visitors however need to be aware that the conditions vary in each country.

For instance, As of March 2021, Cyprus will not require those who can provide proof of vaccination on arrival, to produce a negative PCR test or be subject to quarantine.

Estonia expects travelers to present a valid vaccination certificate on arrival – indicating where the vaccine was manufactured, which vaccine was used, who issued the vaccine as well as the batch number of the vaccine.

Beginning February 2021, travelers who have received full doses of vaccines are allowed to enter Georgia.

Iceland on the other hand, is extending exemption from testing and quarantine requirements only to visitors from the European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland.

Lebanon has since early January 2021, been exempting inoculated travelers from having to quarantine. However, they must still undergo PCR testing.

Poland allows those vaccinated to avoid mandatory quarantine.

Romania has been allowing vaccinated visitors to enter the country since January with the stipulation that if the vaccine requires two doses, both must be taken at least 10 days prior to traveling to that country.

Seychelles requires a certificate of proof of vaccine and a negative PCR test that is taken within 72 hours for travelers to that island.

Thailand exempts those arriving with proof of vaccination from the mandatory 16-day quarantine requirement. This waiver though is extended only to those traveling to Phuket.
